The Burren National Park

Medieval Era

In the Iron Age and early Medieval times, the Burren region was controlled by a tribe known as the Corco Modhruadh, meaning "seed" or "people of Modhruadh". They were one of dozens of minor tribes in Ireland at that time, which occupied a discrete area and were joined by a common bloodline or origin myths.

 

Cultural Attractions

The Burren has a long history of traditional Irish music. It is particularly known for the "West Clare Style" of concertina playing and the music festival in Doolin and Corofin.
